Back in 1996, I made my debut on the internet. A veil of mystery loomed over "the net" back then as it was seen by many as a cesspool of porn, net sex, adultery, con artists and lonely people wanting to score with love or cheap thrills. For some, it probably hasn't changed much in the past 25 years.
I was the first Australian mentalist to have a web page, even pipping my New Zealand colleagues at the post.
When I first logged on, I remember checking and found that I was about the third mentalist in the world to have a site. Unfortunately there was no prize for that but I thought I'd mention it for you anyway.
The website was a simple little thing. Java was still a cup of coffee, shockwave was something that happened around the time of an earthquake and people were still coming to grips with Windows 95. Chatting was around though and that was usually through the „undernet“ with Internet Relay Chat (known as IRC).
My first friends online were some fellow entertainers including another mentalist, a couple of magicians and a cartoonist who drew caricatures at parties. Most of them were in Auckland, a mere throw of the boomerang across the Tasman Sea.
The cartoonist's wife was the biggest chatter and would regularly send me a message to say hello. Further she became a valued critic for any ideas I might bounce around.
Anyway, while talking to her one time, she interrupted me to say, "I've been getting migraines for the past few years but every time we chat, I lose them."
Anyone else saying that would have made me wonder if they were flirting with me but she was serious about the migraines. I'd never healed before and, to this day, still steer away from it.
Over the next couple of months,I had the same reports from other people. Of course, all the time this was happening, I kept note of every incident just in case.
Then came the strangest report.
Jeff, a single father, told me something that made me wonder even more. "I never told anyone this before, Chris, but you'll find this interesting. I used to get outbreaks of gout from a shellfish allergy I have. Since meeting you online and chatting with you, my gout's pain has decreased."
"That's great, Jeff," I told him, without thinking about it. "Maybe you're coming out of that stage."
However when I had time to think, I remembered other people saying the same too. I don't know what it is as I've never considered myself as a healer even though one clairvoyant who read me even told me I could.
So I started an experiment online with my website after a discussion with my girlfriend at the time. We scanned my hands and placed them on the website, explaining it as an experiment. The responses were slow at first but soon there were more and more that seemed to indicate there just may be something to my hands.
Would you like to try it out for yourself? The original scan of my palms is still on the website and just as powerful as before.
